Injuries to two children, ages 3 and 5, were described as “minor non-life threatening” by a state police trooper investigating an Irasburg crash last Wednesday in which a freight truck struck the back of the car the children were in.
Trooper Kali Lindor reported that the children were in a Chevrolet Traverse being driven by Ashley Riendeau, 29, on Route 14 about 8 a.m. As Riendeau approached her driveway, she slowed to nearly a complete stop before making the turn, the trooper noted.
Traveling behind her at the time was Jonas Hastings, who was driving a freight truck. “Hastings was traveling too fast and was unable to stop,” Trooper Lindor noted, hitting the rear of the Traverse.
Riendeau and the children were taken to North Country Hospital. All were wearing seat belts. Trooper Lindo stated the injuries to all three people were minor.
