A former Vermont man has died in Florida of injuries

A former Vermont man has died in Florida of injuries he suffered while preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Milton. According to Florida’s District 19 Medical Examiner’s Office, Robert Mackenzie, 79, fell 15 feet from a ladder in Port St. Lucie, Florida, while attempting to put up shutters on Oct. 7, just before Hurricane Milton made its way into the area. He died on Oct. 12 from his injuries. Mackenzie was the former owner of the Cascade Lodge in Killington. He lived in Killington from 1989 until 2005 when he sold the hotel and moved to Florida.
